CBSE Academics with Army Public School Entrance Preparation

Introduction

At Atulya Defence School, we recognize that excelling in academics and passing the Army Public School (APS) entrance exam is no easy feat. That’s why we’ve designed a unique program that blends the CBSE curriculum with targeted APS entrance coaching. Here, you’ll not only study core subjects like Maths, Science, and English but also learn the strategies and skills required to ace the APS entrance exam.

We believe in creating an environment where learning feels natural, questions are encouraged, and every child gets the attention they deserve. Whether your child aspires to a career in the defense sector or seeks the best education possible, our approach ensures that both goals are met.

About Army Public School (APS), Dagshai

Nestled on top of the Dagshai Hills, Army Public School is a co-educational, residential school affiliated with CBSE, New Delhi. Established in 1986 by General K. Sunderji and General R.S. Dayal under the headquarters of Western Command, APS has been consistently ranked among the top boarding schools in India.

The name Dagshai comes from a local legend. During the Mughal era, criminals were marked with a Daag-e-Shahi (royal mark) and sent to this area. Even today, you can spot the rock edict on the school premises that reflects this history.

APS is not just about academics—it’s about building character, discipline, and leadership qualities in students. Every student here is encouraged to become inquisitive, independent, and socially responsible, ready to excel in life.

Our Mission: Holistic Education

Education isn’t just about memorizing formulas or dates. At Atulya Defence School, we align with APS’s mission:

  • Foster critical thinking and curiosity
  • Teach life skills and values alongside academics
  • Encourage compassion, teamwork, and responsibility
  • Prepare students for competitive entrance exams like APS

Our students don’t just aim to pass exams—they learn to understand, analyze, and apply knowledge in real-life scenarios.

Admission Process for APS

Admission at Army Public Schools generally begins from Class I onwards. However, competitive entrance tests are mainly conducted for Classes VI to IX and Class XI. Registration for Classes VI, VII, VIII, and IX usually closes on December 31, while for Class XI, it closes on March 10.

The entrance exam is conducted on the second Sunday of February at various centers across India.

Admission is primarily for children of serving Army personnel, with a limited number of seats also available for war widows, ex-servicemen, and civilians.

APS Entrance Exam Pattern

The APS entrance exam assesses students on subjects taught in the CBSE curriculum, while evaluating reasoning, comprehension, and analytical skills. Here’s the breakdown:

Class V & VI Entrance

  • Mathematics – Focus on problem-solving
  • English – Grammar, comprehension, and writing
  • General Knowledge – Basic awareness and current events
  • Intelligence – Logical reasoning and mental aptitude

Higher Classes (VII-IX)

  • Core subjects: Mathematics, English, Science, Social Science
  • Intelligence tests remain a key component.

Marks from the written exam and interview combine to form the final merit list.

At Atulya Defence School, we simulate the actual APS exam environment. Students practice under timed conditions, solve sample papers, and get personalized feedback to maximize scores.

Real Student Stories

Look, we’re proud of our students. Take Arjun, for example:

“When I joined Atulya Defence School, I was struggling with Math and English. The teachers helped me improve, and I cleared the APS entrance with top marks!”

And then there’s Meera, who says:

“I was nervous about the entrance exam. The mock tests and guidance from mentors gave me confidence. Today, I’m in APS, and I couldn’t have done it without Atulya.”

Stories like these are why our program works. We don’t just teach; we transform students’ confidence and abilities.

How We Prepare Students

Here’s our step-by-step approach:

  • CBSE Mastery – Strong foundation in all subjects
  • APS Entrance Focus – Daily practice for reasoning, comprehension, and subject-specific skills
  • Mock Tests – Simulate actual exam conditions
  • Interview Prep – Build confidence for personal interaction
  • Feedback Loop – Continuous assessment and improvement

Ever wondered why most students fail the first attempt? Lack of structured preparation and timed practice. We fix that.

Hostel & Residential Life

APS is a residential school, and our program at Atulya is also residential. Students experience:

  • Discipline and structured routines
  • Opportunities to build friendships and teamwork skills
  • Exposure to sports, cultural activities, and leadership programs

Just like boarding school life, our environment teaches time management, responsibility, and independence.

Preparing for Life Beyond APS

Our goal isn’t just to get your child into APS. It’s to equip them for life:

  • Academic excellence through CBSE
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence to face competitive exams beyond APS (like NDA, CDS)
  • Strong character, leadership, and resilience

Because here’s the truth: APS is a stepping stone, not the destination.
