Integrated Schooling with RMS Entrance Coaching

Introduction

If you’re a parent dreaming of a bright future for your child, you’ve probably heard of the Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS). These schools are among the top institutions in India that prepare students not just for academics but also for a disciplined and purposeful life. But here’s the challenge—getting into RMS isn’t easy. The entrance exams are competitive, the seats are limited, and the preparation can feel overwhelming for a young child.

That’s where Atulya Defence School comes in. We’ve built a model that gives children the best of both worlds: regular CBSE schooling + focused RMS entrance coaching. This way, kids don’t have to choose between school studies and entrance prep. Everything is seamlessly integrated into one system.

Why Integrated Schooling Matters

Let’s be honest. Most children struggle when they try to balance school and coaching separately. They end up with long travel hours, piles of homework, and stress that takes the joy out of learning. We’ve seen it happen too many times.

Atulya Defence School was founded with one clear idea: why not combine both? Why not create a school where a child can study Maths, English, Science for CBSE exams in the morning, and then prepare for RMS entrance in the afternoon—without stepping outside the campus?

One parent told us, “Earlier, my son had to attend school till 2 pm, rush to coaching by 3 pm, and return home exhausted by 8 pm. He was too tired even to eat properly. Here, he studies and prepares under one roof. Now he’s fresh, confident, and motivated.” Stories like this remind us why integrated schooling matters.

About Rashtriya Military Schools

Rashtriya Military Schools were initially founded as King George’s Royal Indian Military Schools to educate the sons of defence personnel. Over time, they also opened admissions to civilians. Today, RMS is one of the most respected names in education, renowned for its motto, “Sheelem Param Bhushanam,” which translates to “Character is the Highest Virtue.”

There are five RMS campuses in India:

  • Chail Military School (Shimla)
  • Ajmer Military School
  • Bangalore Military School
  • Belgaum Military School
  • Dholpur Military School

The schools have produced countless leaders in the armed forces and beyond. They are more than just schools—they are institutions that shape character, discipline, and leadership.

RMS Reservation Policy

Admissions at RMS are competitive, but the reservation system gives opportunities across categories:

  • 70% seats for wards of JCOs/OR in the Army, Navy, and Air Force (including ex-servicemen).
  • 30% of the seats are reserved for wards of Officers (serving and retired) and civilians.
  • 50 seats reserved for wards of service personnel killed in action.
  • 15% of the seats are reserved for SC candidates.
  • 7.5% for ST candidates across all categories.
  • Approximately 10 seats across all RMS are reserved for girls in Class VI.

Age Limit and Eligibility

  • Class VI: Boys and girls between 10 and 12 years as on 31 March of the admission year.
  • Class IX: Boys between 13 and 15 years as on 31 March of the admission year.
  • Relaxation: Six months’ relaxation in the upper age limit for wards of personnel killed in action.

Educational Eligibility

  • For Class VI: Candidate must have passed or be studying in Class V. Entrance questions are based on Class V level (Intelligence, Mathematics, GK, and English).
  • For Class IX: Candidate must have passed or be studying in Class VIII. Entrance questions are based on Class VIII level (English, Hindi, Science, Social Science, and Mathematics).

RMS Entrance Exam Pattern

This is where many children feel stuck. The exam is challenging, but not impossible—if you know the pattern and prepare the right way.

For Class VI:

  • Intelligence – 50 marks (40% passing)
  • English – 50 marks (35% passing)
  • Mathematics – 50 marks (40% passing)
  • General Knowledge & Current News – 50 marks (40% passing)
  • Interview – 20 marks

For Class IX:

  • Paper I: English (50), Hindi (20), Social Science (30) → Passing: 50%
  • Paper II: Mathematics (50), Science (50) → Passing: 50%
  • Interview: 50 marks

Where Students Struggle the Most

We’ve observed some common pain points:

  • Students excel in Maths but struggle with English.
  • Many ignore General Knowledge and Current Affairs.
  • Interview fear: kids know the answers but freeze when asked in person.
  • Poor time management during exams.

One of our students, Raghav, used to panic every time we mentioned interviews. He was bright in studies but too shy to speak. With regular group discussions and mock interviews, he slowly opened up. When he finally faced the RMS panel, he walked out smiling. His parents told us, “We never imagined he could speak so confidently. That was the real transformation.”

How Atulya Defence School Bridges the Gap

Here’s the thing—most schools don’t prepare students for RMS, and most coaching centres don’t provide CBSE schooling. That’s where Atulya Defence School is different.

Our Approach

  • Morning: Regular CBSE classes with proper curriculum.
  • Afternoon: RMS-specific entrance coaching.
  • Weekly: Mock tests and group discussions.
  • Monthly: Full-length RMS practice exams.
  • Continuous: Personality development, English speaking, and interview practice.

Personal Mentorship

Every child is unique. Some are strong in Maths, some excel in English, and others need confidence building. Our mentors track each child’s progress and design custom study plans.

Fitness & Discipline

No, we’re not a military training camp. But we do encourage fitness and discipline. Just like in sports practice before a big match, students do morning drills, yoga, or light PT. This helps them stay active and focused.

Why Integrated Coaching Works Better

Imagine this. Your child learns fractions in his CBSE class, and the same concept appears in the RMS Maths paper. Instead of studying it twice in different ways, he knows it once, applied both for school and the entrance. That’s the beauty of integration.

  • No wasted effort.
  • No travel fatigue.
  • No confusion between school and coaching.
  • Consistent learning environment.

Parents often tell us their children feel “lighter” here. One parent said, “Earlier, exam season was full of tears and stress. Now my daughter actually enjoys studying because she knows it’s all connected.”

The Journey Beyond RMS

We always remind parents—RMS is not the final stop. It’s the starting point. From RMS, students often aim for NDA, CDS, or other top academies. That’s why Atulya Defence School also trains for Sainik Schools, RIMC, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Army Public Schools, NDA, and CDS.

So even if a student doesn’t make it to RMS, they’re prepared for multiple opportunities. No year is wasted.

Why Parents Choose Atulya Defence School

  • Dual Advantage: Schooling + Coaching in one place.
  • No Compromise: Equal weightage to CBSE and RMS prep.
  • Proven System: Mock exams, interview training, mentorship.
  • Balanced Life: No rushing between classes, more time for rest and play.
  • Experienced Faculty: Experts in both school subjects and entrance coaching.

A parent shared, “My son failed the RMS entrance once because he wasn’t ready for the viva. This time, with Atulya’s guidance, he cleared it. The joy on his face was priceless.”
