Best Sainik School Coaching for Yamunanagar Students – Class 6 & Class 9 AISSEE Complete Guide

Atulya Defence Academy 8 min read
Sainik School coaching in Yamunanagar for AISSEE 2027 Class 6 and Class 9, about 50 km to Ambala Cantt, nearest Sainik School Kunjpura

Written by the Class 5 and Class 8 entrance faculty at Atulya Defence Academy, Ambala Cantt, about an hour's drive from Yamunanagar–Jagadhri. Checked against the AISSEE 2027 information bulletin.

Parents in Yamunanagar and Jagadhri usually come to us with one of two children in mind. The first is a Class 5 child, bright and active, whose family wants a Sainik School seat for Class 6. The second is a Class 8 child who has done well in school, has started talking about the Army, and whose parents have only now learnt that a Class 9 entry exists. Both routes are open through the same national entrance, but they are very different exams with different odds.

This guide covers both. It explains where a Yamunanagar child's seats are, how the Class 6 and Class 9 papers differ, what scores give a fair chance, and how to choose Sainik School coaching in Yamunanagar or nearby without wasting a year.

At a glance: the written test for both classes is on Sunday, 31 January 2027. A Haryana-domiciled child competes for home-state seats at Kunjpura and Rewari, plus New Sainik Schools in the state. Class 6 is a 300-mark paper with maths at 150; Class 9 is a 400-mark paper in English with maths at 200, and has far fewer seats.

Which is the nearest Sainik School to Yamunanagar?

The school at Kunjpura, just outside Karnal, is the closest, roughly 60 to 70 km by road through Radaur and Indri, about an hour and a half's drive. It is also the school most local families list first. Rewari, the state's other older school of this kind, is far to the south. Among the New Sainik Schools approved in Haryana, the one in Kurukshetra district is within reach as well; check the current bulletin to see which partner schools are admitting through the 2027 entrance and how many seats they offer to outside candidates.

Sainik School coaching in Yamunanagar: Class 6 versus Class 9 AISSEE 2027 compared, 300 marks versus 400 marks, maths 150 versus 200, Hindi or English medium versus English only, seats and age limits
Two entry points, two very different papers.

Sainik School Kunjpura admission from Yamunanagar

There is no separate form for Kunjpura. You apply through the national entrance on the NTA portal and list Kunjpura in your school preferences. After the result, seats are offered through e-counselling based on merit, quota and category. A medical examination at the school and a check of original documents complete the admission.

How many Sainik School seats are reserved for Haryana students?

Sixty-seven percent of the seats at each of the older Sainik Schools are kept for children domiciled in that state, so two-thirds of the seats at Kunjpura and Rewari go to Haryana children. Within the home-state and other-state shares, seats are reserved for SC (15 percent), ST (7.5 percent) and OBC non-creamy layer (27 percent) candidates, and a quarter of all seats go to children of serving and retired defence personnel. Each year's seat matrix is in the information bulletin.

Can a Yamunanagar student apply to a Sainik School in another state?

Yes. The remaining 33 percent of seats in every older school are open to other states, and Himachal, Punjab or Uttarakhand schools can be listed as preferences. Those seats are shared by applicants from all over India, so the competition is wider. List them below Kunjpura and Rewari, not above.

Route 1: Class 6 entry

The Class 6 paper has 125 questions for 300 marks in 150 minutes: mathematics 150 marks, and intelligence, language and general knowledge 50 marks each. A Class 5 child can write it in Hindi or English. The age window for 2027 is a birth date between 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2017.

What matters most in preparation: maths every day, with word problems on fractions, percentage, profit and loss, and simple interest; short daily reasoning sets; one reading passage a day; and a full mock every week from December. Our Class 6 syllabus guide lists every topic.

Route 2: Class 9 entry

The Class 9 route deserves more attention from parents here than it gets. It is a different exam:

PointClass 6Class 9
Total marks300400

Other subjectsIntelligence, language, GKIntelligence, English, science, social science

Birth date window1 Apr 2015 – 31 Mar 20171 Apr 2012 – 31 Mar 2014

Two points stand out. The paper is in English only, which can trouble children from Hindi-medium schools across every subject, not just English. And seats depend on vacancies, so the number can be small. A Class 8 child aiming at it needs strong Class 8 maths (algebra, compound interest, mensuration), regular English reading, and the science and social science of the Class 8 NCERT books. Our Class 9 syllabus guide has the full list.

What score is needed to clear AISSEE in the Haryana home-state quota?

No official figure exists, and the cut-off varies by school, year and category. Every child must first score 25 percent in each subject and 40 percent overall. As a working target from our batches: for Class 6, consistently above 75 percent in full mocks; for Class 9, where seats are fewer, above 80 percent.

Is there good Sainik School coaching in Yamunanagar?

The twin towns have coaching centres and tutors who prepare children for school entrances, mostly in evening batches. The quality varies. Judge any option by what it does, not what it claims. These questions help:

  • How many full-length mocks on OMR sheets before 31 January?
  • Is there a separate Class 8 batch for the Class 9 paper, in English?
  • Who reviews each child's mistakes, and how?
  • How many hours of maths per week?

The best Sainik School coaching near Yamunanagar for your child is the one that can show you these answers on paper, wherever it is.

Is residential coaching better than local tuition for Sainik School from Yamunanagar?

Local tuition keeps the child at home and works for a self-motivated child with a parent free to supervise in the evenings. Residential preparation adds a fixed daily timetable, school and entrance study on one campus, daily PT and supervised evening study. It also gets a child used to the hostel life of a Sainik School. At Atulya, CBSE schooling and entrance coaching share one day, with a full mock every Sunday. For Sainik School Class 6 coaching in Yamunanagar families often compare one strong local tutor against a residential programme; both can work if the weekly mock and review happen. Our entrance programme page describes the routine.

Kunjpura or a New Sainik School?

If your child's rank allows a choice at counselling, the decision is not always obvious. Kunjpura is an older school with decades of NDA results, a uniform fee structure under the Society and a large campus. A New Sainik School is an existing school that has partnered with the Society; some are excellent, others are still building up their hostel and staff. Visit both if you can. Look at the dormitories and the dining hall, ask about the ratio of teachers to students, and speak to two or three current parents. A school a little closer to home with attentive staff can serve a child better than a famous name where they are lonely.

Documents to arrange from the district now

  • Domicile certificate of Haryana, through the district administration or the Saral portal. Without it, the child is treated as an other-state candidate.
  • Birth certificate that matches the date in the school record exactly.
  • Caste certificate (SC, ST or OBC non-creamy layer) in the central format, if claiming a reserved seat.
  • Service certificate in the bulletin's format for children of serving or retired defence personnel.
  • Bonafide certificate from the current school showing the class and session.

Getting these early avoids the rush that follows the result, when every family in the district is queueing for the same papers.

The medical examination: check early

Selected children are examined at the school before admission. Most pass without trouble, but we see a few admissions held up every year for problems that could have been treated months earlier: weak eyesight, untreated dental decay, hearing issues, flat feet or excess weight. A routine check-up with your family doctor in November, including an eye test, costs little and removes that risk. If a problem is found, there is still time to treat it before the counselling stage.

How far is Ambala Cantt from Yamunanagar and how to reach by road or train?

About 50 km by road, roughly an hour via Jagadhri and Saha. Haryana Roadways and private buses run through the day. By rail, Yamunanagar-Jagadhri station is on the Saharanpur–Ambala line, and trains reach Ambala Cantt in about an hour. Parents usually find the trip easy enough for visiting days and parent-teacher meetings.

Yamunanagar se Sainik School ki taiyari kaise karein?

Class 6 ke liye maths ko roz sabse zyada samay dein, reasoning roz thodi, aur hafte me ek mock. Class 9 ke liye English roz padhein, kyunki poora paper English me hota hai, aur Class 8 maths aur science pakka karein. Dono ke liye Haryana domicile certificate pehle se taiyar rakhein.

When is the AISSEE 2027 exam and what is the last date to apply?

Sunday, 31 January 2027, for both classes. The notification came out on 13 October 2026; the closing date for the form is in the NTA information bulletin. Our AISSEE 2027 timeline has every stage, and the form guide covers the documents. AISSEE 2027 preparation for Yamunanagar students should start with the form, then the study plan.

From which class should a Yamunanagar child start Sainik School preparation?

For Class 6 entry, begin building maths in Class 4 and prepare fully through Class 5. For Class 9 entry, start in Class 7, with English reading from the beginning. Late starters can still do well with a tight plan; our three-month plan is written for them.
